Any Rod Holder Recomendations?

I have a 19 ft 1989 Bayliner Capri. I want to put some rod holders on the boat for fishing in the severn river and the chesapeake bay. I dont know what kind will work best for this boat. i want to do a lot of trolling. Thanks

Hit the hardware store and buy some PVC pipe. It's cheap, cuts and drills easy. You can cut and mount your own rod holders. I would use stainless screws to hold them in.<br /><br />Bob

I have just installed a couple of Scotty Powerlock rod holders.<br /><br />They are made from fiber re-inforced nylon and seem pretty sturdy, as well as fully adjustable.<br /><br />I paid about $15 each.<br /><br /> Scotty fishing

I have used pvc pipe and still do on my transom.They will eventually crack atleast mine did. You can go into any web site and find them on fishing .I recently have changed two of my pvc to galvinzed pipe almost any hardware store has it figure out your length drill bottom for bolt so your rod wont turn on you. I bolted mine to the transom with u bolts and a backing plate. Make surer you use a backing plate and and a saftey line. Good luck I said you can go into any web site I meant for store bought rod holders you might have to cut a hole for them to slip down thoughI also use shotguns. It is another type of rod holder. One of the things it does is rotates to follow your fish..

This old boat<br />I really like the scotty striker rod holder. Unlike and fixed rod holder can adjust height and turn in any direction. Can also set the hook with the butt still in the rode holder. I have 4 stricker and two fish on rode holders on the boat but the scotty striker my favorite. The fish on works ok also but all plastic and just not as strong.

i have a few of the PVC rod holder kits you can buy at west marine. It comes with all the parts, screws, and brackets, and the 6 rod holder is nly about 30$.<br /><br />save yourself the aggravation =)
