I have a '05 Yamaha RX-1. It's a 4 cyl. 4stroke 1000cc. I just had a rock get caught in my track and ripped up the front heat exchanger. Anyone ever replace these? What's involved? Anyone bring it in to have done and the cost?

One option that was mentioned was to pull the rear skid/track and have someone weld it. I just want to see what my replacement options would be.....

Thanks!!

Re: Any snowmobilers???????????

Hi Pauly, tell me about it. It was my first time out this year. After 34 miles I heard ticking and saw nice bright green in the snow. Luckily I was next to a highway where it was easy to load up. Not in the middle of the woods somewhere w/o cell service, thank you God ^^^......... The cheapest new exchanger I've found is $250. I'm hearing it might be a nightmare to change..

My sled is in the shop as we speak. $300 labor. Since the skid and track has to come out I'm having them change the driveshaft bearings too. Will only cost me the price of the bearings since it will be out anyways. The labor cost is worth my sanity....

Gee, thanks!

I live in Bayfield co. So, I just ride my sled right out my driveway and can go anyplace in the state. Cable is a close ride. When I went out a couple days ago the trails were good. We did hit 44 yesterday and heading there again today. Sun both days. Trails will be shot real quick if not already. It's already 41. This is nuts!
