Remove the bonnet and ck for oil leakage on the powerhead then ck the lower unit lube at the bottom screw for water or grit if the oil is real clean they have probably just change it to cover some problem up. Then test run it if runs well you've found a keeper the were very trouble free engines basically the same engine was first built in 1961 so they had many years to refine it
