The OEM service manual should have it. Also, I know the Clymer manual for that model will have it mixed in with whatever other models the book covers. (The Clymer and Seloc manuals cover a lot of models for years at a time, so you need to be careful with what your looking at.) Good luck...

Your best bet is a factory manual for your engine.

I've got the Clymer for this motor. The wiring diagram is in there. It is for the years 57-68 I believe.

See, that is why they have such a bad reputation. The diagrams are not alike for that many years. Heck, a '57 doesn't even have a key switch. And '67-up doesn't have a junction box.

I am not a fan of aftermarket manuals, but sometimes the Clymer, Seloc, etc. manuals do have useful wiring diagrams that are year/model specific.

if its a 40hp dont get the clymer manual for 1965-1975 its doesnt have the wire diagram for it

yes, thank you.
previous owner had put a 35 hp shroud on this engine.
this has been an interesting project, considering we are total rookies.
