Well i was going through some sites looking at new motors and i saw that suzuki is remaking the 25hp 4stroke suzuki this yr.Don't know if they released the specs yet but it is going to be an efi outboard now as well as i'm sure a bit more money.

Looks like suzuki is catching up with the pack as well as passing the pack at the same time with their 15/20hp 4stroke efi outboard.I'm looking foward to seeing what the weight of this new 25 is.

Anyone have any thoughts or facts they know about the motor already,i would love to hear them, thanks.

I recently worked on a 2003 Suzy 30 carbed engine. 3 cylinder, 3 valves per cylinder. Same block and displacement as the 25. Very nice package, power tilt/trim, quiet and odorless. 3 cylinder. I had some issues with plastic parts for throttle linkage which I thought should have been made from metal. This particular engine had flywheel sensors which in combination with the computer advanced timing so there was no mechanical link between throttle and timing--nice touch.

However, this engine had hit something and stopped dead. The crankshaft timing gear was pressed on and had shifted cam timing. It could not be reset so the engine needed to be set-up off the cast-in timing marks.

Additionally, the pistons had relief "eyebrows" cut into them to clear the exhaust valves. Suzuki sent us the correct part number piston but no relief and insisted that they were correct. It turned out that the valves clattered. The production run of pistons was recalled
