Just repowered my boat with a mid-80's Mercury. The graphics on the wrap-around cowling are sun-faded and cracked and look terrible. Plan is to get some new decals for the main and lower cowlings LIKE THESE.

What's the best technique to get the old crappy decals off? Heat? Scraping? Some kind of rotary tool?

I ordered mine off of ebay, some guy up in Canada. You might look around on there, mine look great. I would try heat on the stickers, but I bet they will be hard to get off. There is also a pinstripe eraser that 3M makes, never used it but I have seen people swear by it. you put it on your drill and it removes the decal and glue. Careful scraping, if you create a rough surface in the paint it will telegraph through your stickers and leave them looking crappy.

I forgot about your stickers, Arch. Was only thinkin' about outboards, not a Mercruiser. Need more coffee. :D
