I have a 1987 Johnson 90HP, and the way I see it is, the water comes in from the exhaust housing, to the heads, then out the bottom of each head (Port bank, and Starboard bank) through hose ( each side) to the termostat housing. Inside the termostat housing are the two termostats and two springs over the popits, which (popits) open under WOT from high water pump pressure to suppy more water at WOT. I hope this is clear enough.
