I need some help on whether to send my motor to this company or not, its called pwcengine.com there are located in New York. They are willing to rebuild my motor cheaper then what SBT is willing to rebuilt it for, I have heard that pwcengine.com in NY doesnt use Chinese parts so that is why i am hesistant to send my motor to them, Can someone please give me advice on whether you have used pwcengine.com in NY or have heard of anybody that has used them.

What ski are you rebuilding - Yamaha, Polaris, Seadoo??? And what kind of rebuild are you needing? Top end? Lower end? Complete rebuild?

As far as pwcengine.com, I don't have a clue and I have locals that have dealt with SBT and didn't have the best to say. But experience has taught me that it is usually better to have those tasks performed by someone local that you can gain a relationship through since they are "face-to-face" and they want your good feedback to travel to your friends. I have dealt with similar problems online and over a long distance and it has always turned up less then what they promise and what I expect in good business practice. But it has only been MY experience - you may have better luck.

Sometimes "you get what you pay for" when it comes to going the cheapest route so be careful.

If you are looking for a simple rebuild, and you are somewhat mechanically inclined, I am willing to help you with your rebuild. It is easier than you think in most cases. But if you're after crankshaft, main bearings, and alike, I'm not the best man for the job since I have only done that once and it was with a Mercury outboard not a PWC. I have good experience at the other stuff though.

Either way, good luck with your rebuild :D

I bought a rebuilt crank for my yamaha gp760, and it was fine. With anything, I would inquire as to the parts they are using. On some of the Pwc forums, there is good and bad opinions of them.

As frozen said, a rebuild on a 2-stroke is not that hard if you can follow directions. Or they also offer just a swap out top end if that is what you need.

One of the things I would be particular about would be that they reuse your casings. I think sbt will just send you a rebuilt of the shelf and take your core. If I were a freshwater boater, I wouldnt want to get a saltwater set of cases back.

Hi 1,
I don't know where you live but if close to NY you can drop them off to them and see for yourself.
I also belong to the Seadooforum.com and SBT gets better reviews than PWCengine.
Check out their warranty too, I believe that SBT has a 2 yr no questions asked warranty and maybe a premium rebuild package with other extras.

What do you need rebuilt?
Good Luck!!!!!!

Hey, dont know if this is too old, but i have been using PWC for years. I have used SBT in the past and just got tired of the junk. Warranty is great yea but when you pull the engine four times and ship it back, it sucks. I do know they use good parts, i have had on 1 failure in the last 6 years. We are a large dealership and we use 40-50 cranks a year. SBT can be a disaster if you arent careful. Good luck...hope it has worked out for you.

Speedeboy, welcome to the forum! The red banner was a good clue that it was too old to post. Please read the rules. Rule #12. Please do not post to threads that have been inactive for more than 3 months UN-LESS you are the original poster. We have very active forums and any thread that remains inactive for that long should be considered "dead". It is especially confusing when there is an entirely new question posted to an old thread. This is considered a hijack. Please start a new thread of your own.

Thanks for understanding.
