Get the XP Pro, at least 1 GB of RAM, do NOT get a celeron processor and a 200GB hard drive, 1 dvd /cd burner drive with the software, don't forget a floppy drive, you just might need it and get the restore media. All are the min I'd do for a new computer if you want it to last you 4 or 5 years.

Of course it depends on what you want to do with the computer. I got a laptop a year ago with wireless so I can can be anywhere in the house or in the backyard and still have access to what I want. Be it work or online.

Re: Anybody Here Using a Dell XPS 400?

I have purchased a few Dell refurbished models over the years (including my own laptop) and have had good luck. It just take patience in searching the inventory. I usually searched by RAM and processor, then drives, then screens. I like Intell Pentium Processors (Have centrino in my laptop) but not the celeron model followed by AMD.

The search is the most time consuming. IMO I would order re-furb for the price.

I'm going the refurb route. I was looking in the inventory at the outlet and it looks like for around 650. you can get a nicely loaded one. I don't need the monitor and all the other stuff just the tower...... Thanks guys
