Hello

I have been adviced to measure the bearings (needles) on the rod bearings (crankshaft end) to see if they are worn. I am rebuilding a 1984 merc 115 HP inline 6, serial 6524115. Is there anybody who knows the diameter of theese needles? I would also like to check the center main needles - which diameter? I dont have a factory manual on this powerhead.

Thanks!

I don't think there is a factory spec on those brgs, if you remove them you mike the crank and rod and replace the brgs it is like insurance, I guess if you really need the spec I could go to the shop and mike some.---Bob

Are the bearings hard to get in norway? those little suckers are cheap I couldn't imagine re-using them.

Hello

Didn't know that it was possible to get only the needles - ordering them now. Complete bearings are quite expensive here...

I think it's .056 off hand. :)

Mercury only sells the sets, but the needles are available aftermarket.

-W
