...anything about the cable connecting the tilt lever on my '90 Johnson 40hp and the tilt assist cylinder? When I move the lever, I can see it pulling the metal cable at the top of the black plastic sleeve, but it doesn't seem to be pulling the top of the cylinder. It seems like the cable is kinking instead of pulling. The cable is connected to the cylinder (there's a little ball that fits into a slot) and the cable itself snaps into a groove under the tilt lever. When I disconnected the ball from the groove on the cylinder, I am able to lift the top of the cylinder, which releases the cylinder. With the cable removed, I am able to move the metal cable freely within the plastic sleeve, so it's not broken or binding. This really has me perplexed. Anybody have any suggestions?
