In the deep south.....want to cool my small 2 sleeper cuddy cabin. "Kooleraire" makes a air conditioner which fits in a 24 qt. Igloo cooler. It uses a small DC fan and crushed or block ice for cooling. I wonder if it really works. If anyone can help guide me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks...Gary

Better yet, there is a company that makes a 10,000-13,000 btu unit that temporarily sits on your hatch over the cuddy for the nite and plugs into shore power. I think it weighs about 20-30 pounds, very compact and is meant to be removed before you get underway....uses a little cloth boot of some kind to seal to the cabin. very similar to RV overhead type airconditioner. I believe its in the 4-600 dollar range.

But I never spend the night near an outlet. I need a portable 12 volt unit that will not blast cold air, just take the edge off during the night time. Don't want to spend a fortune either. This thing is only around 40 bucks. Thanks

FlyBoyMark, where did you see that unit? I am really curious as I'm looking for one myself. I live in TX and it gets really hot here during the boating season and I need something to keep my weekender cool overnight. Voltage does not matter.

I tried searching on the web but did not come up with anything reasonable. Mostly very expensive (>$1500) and weak (5000BTU) units.

Thanks
Lou
