Suppose you were offshore and your water pump failed. Could you connect a hose from the raw water washdown to the flush port and operate the engine to get back to port without engine overheating? Thoughts??

if your pump could flow 45 GPM at about 4 PSI? yep at a dead idle ya may pull it off.
would be a lot better to simply MAINTAIN it and you will NEVER suffer a pump failure.
I got a pair of 2001 SX225 yamaha's in for service, they have 50 hours on them, water pumps last done in aug of 06.
guy does NOT want to replace them but he is heading offshore for the marlin bite this weekend.
may be interesting next monday.
boat hasnt been out of the drystack but once in 18 months and thats when we dewinterized it in august of 2010.
come on 7/11 no snake eyes.
