I have a 19 foot aluminum boat with a 120 Johnny on the back, and like all,I want more speed,to out run my loudmouth brother, who has a 115 on a 17 ft. glass. We are pretty even now,but I want more.I am running a 17 pitch OMC 3 blade alum. at 5800,and a 3 blade OMC 19 pitch at 5500.I am intrigued by the Ballistic props.I can pick one up for around 230 bucks,my buddy is a dealer. What is everyones experience with these props,,,good or bad.Would I stay with basically the same pitch,or would the stainless be harder to turn.Any info much appreciated.

I have a Ballistic. It's great. I used the Michigan Wheel prop selecter. Worked great for me.

Hey RJS,,do you have a baseline as to how it did aginst a standard prop,,alum. or stainless, which was not a ballistic.Did it affect your rpm's,top end etc.etc.

In my experience with stainless VS aluminum, you will want a 17 P, due to the weight of the prop and the lack of flex at WOT. You should pick up a couple MPH, and be in the 5,500 RPM Range. The Balistic Props are a decent prop in my opinion.

I have a ballastic 19p on a 125hp and it will get me 2mph more that the factory 21p. If your friend is a dealer you can probably try 17 & 19 and choose the one that puts you in your optimal RPM range at WOT.

When I bought my rig new in 95, It came with a ballistic prop. I have had no troubles with it and would install again when I get a new rig. I have mine on a 70 Johnson.
