Just wondering with all these restorations on here does anyone have an all original boat still.

Why settle for original when you can customize one to your own personal liking?

Re: Anyone have a old original boat

1963 Whaler; I have "restored" the wood sanding/varnishing. Updated the motor to a 1972.

1988 Key West: original but hardly like new. a soft spot on the floor but transom is solid and it serves its purpose. replaced fuel tank and original motor (with one a year older.

2003 Sea Hunt; never touched it

1980 14' Lowe, 1962 12' generic jon (new transom board) 1995 Carolina Skiff--all at a hunt/fish club and used like work boats. no restoration needed or done. 3rd motor (1 was 20 years old)

i restored completely a 17' folboat I found in the trash, frame only

i had never heard of all the below deck restoration as seeming routine until I joined here. I guess we don't buy that type of boat round here. People do like restoring classics and good hulls, though, and the wooden ones.

I have a 1972 Starcraft Super Sport that is nearly untouched aside of a few replacement parts in the engine and the dash panels.

Of course, that's going to change in the dry dock this winter.:D

Re: Anyone have a old original boat

All my boats are original. My motto is buy new, take good care of it (so it doesn't need to be restored) and keep it forever (or until it has depreciated far enough that it becomes a classic and the value starts to increase).

The only exception is my old woody that i DID buy used. In that case it is all original as well - it just took a while to find one that didn't need restoring!

Oh....and yes, they are all customized as well. That's easy to do when its new and hasn't been molested by a previous owner that may have botched it up.

only thing it's had done is up keep.

original everything except for a couple of add ons. the cd player and speakers, wire cup holders(though era proper), 12v cigarette lighter, and vhf radio and antenna. oh, i guess the horn was an add on too, AristoCrafts didn't come with a horn.

wow, you folks are too nice... thanks for the compliments.

here's my new idea... my 1st try at a you tube video... just a run across a quite lake about 3 or 4 weeks ago while out boating by myself.. bummer about the wind noise on my low res. camera but that's the way it turned out.

Not sure if '81 qualifies but here goes: With the exception of the front seats my Baja 15SS is in origional condition. Rigged with the origional Merc 650 when I bought it. Have since upgraded to a 90 Evinrude.

Good thing is next year I'll be able to register it as a 'antique vessel'. In FLA at least anything over 30 yrs old qualifies as an antique. $6.25 per year. Gotta love that!

Re: Anyone have a old original boat

Working on a 1961 Lone Star Fleetwood "sport" It was quite original when I purchased it this summer. The twin 35 Johnsons make it kind of cool, not excited about the original interior seating, and may adjust it there. The new floor and trasom are in, jsut a little glass, paint, engine(s) work and she will splash next summer. Picture is on my signature, and more will come in the resto section as it is restored.

My '72 Silverline is original. Needs a 'nip & tuck' here and there, but it's not a restore.
