Hi Weimed,

Personally have tested lots of anchoring mechanisms, a spool is about right if you can release & rewind with a crank to help along a system that can lock the amount of rope being released from spool. This line dispenser has proven the most simple and efficient to use. Deploys rope fast, forget all about line tanglements, can lock it at any given anchor depth, to rewind rope just unlock from last position and roll rope back onto dispenser. It's a front deck space natural saver.

You can lock both extremes with shackles, one onto bow's fron't d'ring, other to anchor chain. You can secure anchor at front bow line. The line dispenser can be made from a rectanglular piece of wood, just make 2 cuts front of each other with a buttonhole at extreme upper and lower end, round all angles with sand paper. This one holds a 25 Mt line.

That looks exactly like what I need. What is that called Sea Rider? I'm having no luck with keywords on Amazon or even Google.

Hi guys, how are you doing!...

Weimed, these ends seem a bit rough on the picture, should work though. I like the shape of the one Sea Rider shows. There are a couple similar items on amazon, under "line winders", not as nice though. The closest in shape and functionality seems to be this:
Amazon.com: Proline Rope Winder: Sports & Outdoors
But 10 bucks is a bit more than what I would like to pay and the plastic may get brittle after some time under the sun I suppose.

Looks good for 10 bucks, would love to find a nice thick rubber or aluminum one like that

We call them down here, line organizer, are used mainly for spear fishing, you can hook a flotable device on extreme buttomhole and kook all your fish there to. The good issue about this system is that you don't need a bucket or drawer that tangles lines most of the time. The one shown has more that 5 constant years use, besides for what it costs and what superb job does is the way to go. You can make a wooden flat one to suit your line lenght needs if plastic is an issue.
