Anyone have "web TV"?

Was at the mother-in-law's last weekend trying to get her apartment ready for her return from the hospital (she will be using a walker for a time). One thing has to go is the computer desk and PC (its just to big). She has had in her closet "MSN's web TV" for a year so I think it is time to hook it up. Anyone have experience with it? Is there anything to look out for? Anything missing from the box (like there always is) like wires or other stuff? How easy is it for a older person to use and for me to explain how to use to someone who has used a PC's before(mainly e-mail)? I also have to transfer her stuff from "earthlink". Any problems? And anything else you may have. When I install it I will be many hours from home in a strange place (New Jersey :D ) so I would like to go as prepared as possible.

Re: Anyone have "web TV"?

I've never used web tv, but I have a similar box called a web surfer. It was originally just a web tv copy, but I have modified it into a full computer running windows 2000. I did this mostly so that I could get wireless broadband with it instead of using the built in modem. I hate using the internet on this thing. Its just hard to navigate, and the picture quality isn't very good. TVs were never meant to be as clear as a computer monitor. (except for high deff.) It's impossible for me to read text without my glasses, and my vision isn't that bad. (on a 56" TV too) I would imagine an older person would have the same problem...

My Mom has it. Another bonus is no hard drive to worry about viruses and such. Slow, but effective.

Why not get an adapter to change the VGA to RCA output. I got one, it cost me about $45. Then you get a wireless keyboard and mouse setup. Voila! "Web TV" with a real computer! She can put in a DVD and watch a movie that way also, if need be, i.e. no DVD player.

AK Chappy
