1969 Merc 1250

I have some minor pitting on the seal area just under the water pump on my driveshaft. This is allowing water to intrude into the lower unit. Over on the Old Merc website people have talked about Speedi-Sleeves, and have had good answers, but half the time I can't get back onto the website.

My issue is that after looking on the Speedi-Sleeve website at the sizing application, they don't have a size that fits. My shaft size is about .843 inches diameter as measured. They did have a metric sleeve that looked to fit.

My question is if the Merc 1250 had a different driveshaft size from other inline sixes that were close in horsepower (plus or minus), and if anyone here has used Speedi-Sleeves on this size of shaft, what size/part number Speedi-Sleeve did you use?

I have been considering using a speedi sleeve myself for the same reason. You may want to measure the pitted or grooved area on the drive shaft. My area was wider than the .313 speedi sleeve. I would need to buy 2 of them to cover my water damaged area. The only place I've been able to find them where you can buy them by size
is at a bearing shop ($35 ea.). I've heard they work well. I'm just shopping for a good used driveshaft for an 850 mercury.
