hi all

im curious as to how a sonar transducer for a fishfinder sends and recieve signal to your device.

this is my transducer from my Lowrance Elite

there are 6 pins on the connection that goes to back of your Lowrance unit

im assuming:

O - 12v+
O - 12v-
O - Data+
O - Data-
O - Tempurature
O - ???
.....something alond those lines

i could be totally off with these as i am just assuming this with my basic comprehension of electronics.

any other thoughts on how the outputs might go?

Basically i am trying to create a software simulation that will emulate a transducer so i can build a program that works with an actual transducer. I know the programming part, i am just trying to understand more on how a transducer sends and recieves signals to the main unit so i can simulate it with software.

any further information anyone might have would have would be a big help also. Such as, how the data signals might work, ie, "Data+" sends a signal out of your transducer, into the water, the signals bounced back off the objects in the water will come back though Data-" at different timing.

Sorry if this is comfusing for some.... i knowwww there is boating/fisherman that has some kind of knowledge of this that they can help me out on.

anything helps

Thanks!

I Think you will find only 2 wires go to the transducer it self. The other wires are for several temprerature sensors or a speed sensor.

The transducer ofcourse is a crystal that is pulsed to send out an audio signal and then listens for the echoes.
