Ayuh,... If you're talking about Real Jetdrives,+ not Jetskis,...
There are A impellers, B impellers,+ C impellers...
As are bigger than Bs,.. Bs are bigger than Cs....
And of course there are various Cuts to each base(letter) impeller...
It's just like Props,.. It takes X# of Horsepower to spin whichever 1 you're talking about....

hmm, seems a bit more confusing than a prop. Is there any method to selecting the proper impeller for the boat?

How can you tell what is currently in the jet pump?

First thing you need to know is "Who's Jet Pump" you have? Then you have to go by model and serial numbers to find the year, model and size. Then you can move on to what impeller.

You can ask there, you can also go to Berkeleys web site and they have a chart that will tell you how much power it takes to turn a given impeller cut at different RPM's. You have to match the impeller to the power curve of the engine. Prop selection is a little different, due to the fact that the drives have varying gear ratios, and a jet drive is directly connected to the engine. Only way to tell what's in there is to take it apart.

(if a link to another site is not allowed I apologize, mods please remove if it's not)
