I have a 1984 Glasstream 15 ft dual console bass boat. The underlayment on the front deck around the pedestal mount and the main floor have some soft spots. My plan is to cut the main floor out first, to get a look at the stringers, before I get too deep into restoring this boat. Has anyone pulled the cap on a mid 80?s 15 ft Glasstream? I?m curious if there is any weirdness that I need to be aware of before I start this procedure. Also the side of the boat identifies it as a HydraBass 15D and it has a Merc 115 2 stroke, 6 cylinder hanging on the back. I assume the ?D? means dual console. I?ve been surfing the web and haven?t found much info or any pics of the 15 ft. dual console model. (hull ID number is GSY056190484) Any additional info on this model would be appreciated.

Thanks, John

I don't believe I've seen a restoration project for one of those boats here on the forum.

I've found nothing in online searches on this boat. It's not a bad looking little rig. the previous owner left it sitting in a weed patch under a tree for years. I'd been driving by it nearly everyday for the past 6 years and finally couldn't stand it anymore and bought it. I also posted this on the Glasstream forum. I hope they can give me so more info on it. (with my luck I'll probably hear that I have the only surviving out of a production run of 3.)

Best I can tell you is...If you like it and want it, then tear her down and build her back. It's not that hard. Time, effort, and $$$'s. 100-200 man hours, Hard, sweaty itch work, and prolly $2-5K depending on Motor and interior work. Popping the cap is pretty straight forward. Post some pics and I'm 100% certain the guys here on the forum will be able to guide you through the process.;)
