my trailer uses springs that have a closed eye and the other end is an open c.The bushings that were in the springs (what was left) was a nylon bushing with a steele insert. The replacement bushings i got are just nylon for the closed eye part of the spring and the part for the C is just a steele insert. Is this right? The nylon bushing fits tight in the eye the bolt fits tight. The C part that uses just a steele insert will move in the spring 1/2 inch

You seem to be describing and eye and slipper spring. AIf you are then the slipper is supposed to fit loose for and aft and somewhat loose up and down. This allows the spring to flex and "grow for and aft to accomodate the bumps in the road.

If it is an eye and slipper I would not give it another thought. The only time it will make noise is when you hit a big enough bump that you won't even pay attention to the trailer spring noise.
