a little tiny corner hands over the edge of the boat. should i drill another hole and raise it a quarter inch? also will it make that much of a difference that it's 2 feet of center of the boat when it comes to side imaging?

thanks

(yes, I am redoing the carpet on the trailer rails this week :) )

I say drop her in the water and see how it works. And I'm jealous that you have side imaging.

Two possible drawbacks: The reevits may cause turbulance and propwash. Most recommend the other side for mounting.

Would raising it up a 1/4 inch help with the rivet turbulence? Otherwise, not much I can do about that. Boat is rivited.

Why the other side of the boat?

thanks!!

I have mounted several on the port side with no problems, NGT. Because the transducer needs clean (no bubbles) water contact when on plane yours might be mounted a wee bit high.

Reevits? There ain't no reevits. We don't need no stinking reevits!

Ok, I was worried about it being too low, but it should be lower than the bottom of the boat?

Hbird recommends 1/8" below hull. You're rivets may/maynot be a problem. Other side due to the rotation of the prop. It may/maynot throw exhaust gasses at the transducer. You'll have to try it out to know for sure. Only mentioned possibles, not stating certainties.

Side Scan sees Dead Flat Left and Right. It does look Sideways after all!

If the Transducer is below the Hull at the mounting location, but a few inches ABOVE the Keel to the Right side,
The Right side view will be looking through all the turbulence coming off the lower transom at the keel.

Assuming you have an OutBoard, if the lower drive comes within 6 inches of the transom when trimmed all the way in, the drive will also block the side view to that side. Things to thing about! :D

Post a picture of the full transom of the boat from a spot about 15 feet straight behind and level with the Plug.

You are pretty flat, so you may be OK as long as there is a space in front of the drive to see through.
It could be mounted lower but I definitely would NOT raise it!
Give it a try, and let us know the results.

Maybe it's a bad pic....but your motor looks like its mounted way too low. The cav plate looks to be 1-2 inches below the keel line.

here's the space behind the motor....is that enough?

When the motor is straight, it's 5 inches from the boat and the motor is 18 inches from the transducer.

as for the motor being too low, besides mounting some height on the back of the boat, I'm not sure how I would do that.

Re: anyone see anything wrong with this location?

So your anti-ventilation(cavitation) plate IS below your keel?

Is your transom height 15" or 20"?

Is your motor mounted as high as the transom bracket will allow? (it's perfectly ok to have the motor mounted high..and have the motor transom bracket in the air....not hanging on the transom itself)

Yeh, you're about 3" low. A lot of unneccesary drag. Should't affect the transducer. Reread the Hbird manual and it said as much as 1/2" below hull on alum. boats. Probably to avoid rivit turbulance.
