I bought one to use on my Yamaha 60HP, to replace an aging 13x19" Yamaha aluminum, which gave me the recommended 54-5500 on top. Got recommended the Quest in 13.25x19 and was told it outperformed the previous Turbo model in every aspect.
Got 37mph, ca 1 mph more on top but lost 5-600 rpm. A 17 or 18" would have been a better choice here. This with motor raised vith cav plate 1.25" over bottom.
Nice overall lift and grip, but on my boat, a 16ft 700lbs V-bottom runabout, the vent holes did not come into effect from the start, but caused too much slip in the midrange.
Then tried the prop on my other boat, a Yamarin 5940 , a 19' cabin, weighing around 1800 lbs. V-bottom with neutral planing characteristics.
Also replacing a Yamaha 13x19" running at 59-6000rpm, 40mph. The Quest performed pretty similar to the alum prop (but providing more lift), topped out at 58-5900 and maybe 1mph more on top. Could not trim it much more than the stock prop.
On this boat too the vent holes caused excessive slip in the midrange
Thinking of plugging the holes with JBWeld and drilling them smaller.
Any other tips/suggestions?
