It was briefly evaluated by Powerboat Reports last year. As I recall, it was a no-frills application that has everything you need for navigating without breaking the bank. Used for boat and/or car. Charts and updates are free. It can use anything for charts including the free NOAA vector charts. Download them from NOAAs web site
they are the most accurate charts. You can also scan your own paper charts and load them into the Fugawi application by identifying a few known lat/lon points. Fugawi is probably the least expensive way to get into PC based navigation with a serious software application.<br /><br />There are two versions of the Fugawi; GPS and ENC. I dont know the difference between them. If you research the difference, please post back here.<br /><br />At the other end of the spectrum is Nobletec. The full blown Nobletec application can do anything, including laundry, cleaning windows, change the baby's diaper, but the price tag is way up there.
