Anyone who has used MarineTex

I'm wondering abiut how much I'm gonna need.

I have about 10 5/8" holes and 2 holes that are a tad bigger.

About how much of the MarineTex do I need? Nobody will be able to see any of these holes when I'm done fulling them. They will be behind some panels. But I need it to be filled and pretty strong.

The containers are pretty small. Start with 2 and if you need more, go get it.

Hard to say without knowing the thickness of the material you're filling.

Marine tex to fill holes is overkill. Bondo will work fine.Charlie

These holes are used to hang 11 ft long panels that go on the inside of the boat on the sides and is covered in vinyl. The shifter/control box is on one of them.

The holes that are there now are worn and it was making the panels sag a little. So this is wh Im using it. Im filling it in and then Im gonna drill new holes when I mount the new panels.


The material is about 3/4" thick

If the holes are behind the panels, why not relocate the holes and hangers and be done with it and save the money for gas.....just a thought

Buy a pint of bodymans kitty hair, just as strong or stronger, sets up twice as fast and 1/4 the cost

That is not a real good use for Marine-tex alone. You meed some fiber or other material to resist the wearing of the sides of the bolts. How about using the Marine-tex to fil the holes and glue a piece of plywood behind the panel? That would give you the fiber you need. A large Stainless washer with the correct size hole glued on the back or front would work as well.

The smallest container of Marine-Tex is plenty for that application.
