I just purchased an Apex open 15' with a 40HP Yamaha and a jockey console. I purchased it used and it will be shipped to me by the end of the week. I know that it is a little late, but what are people's opinions of this boat. I am new to the RIB world, so please take it easy on me.

P.S. It will be used on the rivers and oceans of Hawaii.

I know nothing of the boat but would love to see some images of the boat in the waters around Hawaii.

It's an okay boat....Considered mid quality among Hypalon fabric brands. You could have done worse.

Is there anything in particular that I should know about Apex? I tried to research as much as possible before the purchase, but found very little info. So anything that you can give would be helpful.

Re: Apex open -15'

I see some of them around here, south Florida. Most seem to be older and in OK condition. I know one guy has a small one, pretty beat up, I suppose about 10ft. He has an old Mercury on it and takes it out in the Atlantic spearfishing all the time in almost any sea state.

He's a bit off-center, as he dives rediculous depths too (200ft) regularly, because, "Adrian...That's where the big fish are".

He'll probably end his days at that depth too.

I own a 12ft Apex RIB with center console and 25 Merc. Lov eit. It's 5 years old.

Love it !! I do baby it (covered / garage due to the belief that these boats (inflatable's) typically last 10 years before leaks and other troubles develop. Hoping to stretch that out.

The combo of 15ft & 40 sounds great. I can alledigly put a 40 on mine - however I already go 25MPG (via GPS) and am quite happy if not impressed.

Have fun -

George,
Thanks for the positive feedback about the boat. I just took it out today for the first time and had a lot of fun. It seems like it will be a great boat for my family and I. Do you have any advice for caring for the Apex?

Thanks

I'm learning myself. I've only owned in 1 season.

I'm trying to keep the sun off it. Try putting a post on pvc conditioning??

Well the sun is your boats worst enemy ... so def get a cover .... do not over inflate or under inflate your boat, always rinse with fresh water before storage ... use mild soap to clean boat ... that is about it ....
