WOO HOO!!!!!
an important lesson on starting with the basics was learned, ie. learn to check the toothed belt....the top noches were off by about 8 teeth.
so now the compression is up to 130 in each cylinder and it will start however the ignition timing is still off.
the distributor is frozen will not rotate. I have some PB Blaster on it now and hope to free it up by the morning, I have never seem one so stuck.

also the cooling system....if I open the valve under the exhaust manifold is that gonna drain the antifreeze into the bilge or out the exhaust. and does that valve need to be open to allow water from the muffs to circulate.

forever in your debt......doc

The cooling drains into the bilge.
It is toxic and illegal to drain out the exhaust.
And no, the engine coolant has nothing to do with exhaust cooling water that is completely separate from the engine cooling water.

Congrats.

Like what Maat said its gonna make a mess in the bilge so cathch it under a bucket. You need to make sure that when u run the engine that you are getting water into the heat exhanger to keep the antifreeze cool.

Also USE Low Tox antifreeze, it is better for the enviroment and the animals. Plus when u winterize your gonna be spraying that stuff all over when u run the engine sucking it up.
So make sure you got water going to that sea water pump and make sure the impeller is still good. IF you forget worst you'll do is ruin the impeller and possibly melt the exhaust hump hose and get bits of impeller in the cooling pipes. Antifreeze goes into the expansion tank or u can use water but you have to drain it every winter and the block drain plug is a pita to get to. To check to make sure your getting water to the exhaust is to open the cap on the exhanger and water should come out fairly good.

As far as the distributer goes make sure that you didnt spin the gear out, seems odd that it would start but have a stuck distributer.
