Finding parts for the Volvo aq125 to be crazy expensive compared to others. Does anyone know of any less expensive options for the distributor cap or exhaust hose? I'm finding $50 - $70 on the cap and $90 - $100 on the hose....Several times the cost of the same parts for most other boats.

I found several Parts on Ebay. Some aftermarket, if you don't mind using them. I'm also told the same basic engine was used in Volvo cars.

Yes block and head are similar.
Water pump, dist, starter alternator, fuel pump, not similar.

I made an adapter to use an auto distributer cap. Since the cap is not water-air tight, this does not jeopardize safety.

Looks like you can buy a sierra for cheap here on Iboats.
I believe your VP part number is 243797.
What exhaust hose are you looking for?

Measure the ID and just do a generic search for the exhaust hose. There are quite a few options out there.

Thanks. I think my part number is 841263. The difference is one screws and one clips....and about $40. The exhaust hose is the one in the engine compartment. Part number 834871. While most of the others I find are in the $20 range the cheapest I can find that one for is about $90. That seems like a lot for a 4" rubber connector. What makes it different from the others. Is there a reason I couldn't use one of the others even if I had to cut it to make it fit?

I did pick up an auto distributor cap for the volvo 242 engine but the holes were too wide.

I was typing on top of you PiratePast40. Are you saying anything that fits should work? I can't find an aftermarket that's the same anywhere.

Yes, I'd use anything that fits. I was searching as well, and couldn't find a Sierra or Mallory one with that part number. Rather surprising, but not unusual for manufacturers to eventually drop support for some older parts.
