Hey guys,

Was wondering if this motor is worth a rebuild. I mean, is it a good enough motor to put the effort into rebuilding or is replacing it with a different motor a better route?

Thanks,
Keith

Variables??? The new motor??? V-6 V-8 or the 4 that's in there?
The 6/8 will need a different transom assy. and a different drive.

What's wrong with the 4?
I really like the Volvo 4s they run great and are real easy on gas.
Parts are a bit expensive but if taken care of they should last a long time.

Re: AQ125B Rebuild: Is it worth it?

Hey Jerry, thanks for the reply.

Well, it looks like the rings are worn in it and I was wondering if the engine is worth the tear down and rebuild. It isn't in the best condition due to sitting since 99. But I have been able to get it running, I just need to get it tuned up.
After getting it running I have found, like you said, the parts are expensive, so that was my main reason for wondering if it was worth it.

Thanks,
Keith

A proper engine rebuild will cost you quite a bit of money. $1500+ I would guess...Before rebuilding, why not spend 100-200 and have a mechanic do the tune up and see how it performs with everything to spec.

Is the boat worthy of a rebuilt engine? Does the boat have sentimental value?
