I have 1972 glastron with the aq130 Volvo engine on a penta 280 outdrive it idles well will run 4000 rpms with no load but will only do 2000 to 2500 rpms with prop engaged in the lake
I have 1972 glastron with the aq130 Volvo engine on a penta 280 outdrive it idles well will run 4000 rpms with no load but will only do 2000 to 2500 rpms with prop engaged in the lake
New plugs, rebuilt the carbs and checked compression and timing. compression bottom end of good but good. the boat no longer uses points and condenser. I am wondering if the new ignition should be timed differently from the point and condenser version. I have timed it at 15 degrees btc, at 1100 rpms at 2500rpms it is around 30 degrees advance.
Carbs rebuilt so verify throttle plates opening all the way, verify timing, verify tach. What is the boat speed? What is gear ratio and prop pitch? Has the boat ever run right?
