Hello experts and if your like me delving into areas you never seen yourself going lol. Like the Volvo Marine scene. But loving it. Recently sucked a bunch of mud and gravel up into my system in some low flood waters. Boat over heated but nothing damaged. I cleaned out the Oil Cooler, forced water through the system to make sure it wasnt blocked up. Had to reverse blow the intake through the outdrive to unclog it. Im replacing the Impellor and seals because i bought some clear tubing this time to check flow and it seems to have a little trouble at idle speed till its primed but that could be normal with air in the hose. But i did notice small cracks on the blades of impeller.

My question is would it be ok or unwise to cut like a 2 inch section out of the copper cooling line and couple it with clear tubing to make it easy to see if i have a blockage later on down the road. Also i was thinking of adding a water filter before the impeller that would stop debree in a case like this from clogging the system further down. Any tips on size or styles? I have never added an inline water filter.

Oh and lastly i was curious, when i force water through the water pump via the intake before the impeller it shoots water out the 2 small holes behind the impeller housing. Is that normal or is that a bad seal. Im hoping if its a seal that it comes with the impeller kit.

Re: AQ130C/270T Copper cooling line question

I wouldn't cut any of the copper tubing after the pump, those lines need to stay rigid so they will seal. That engine originally came with a strainer, so I would say yes add a strainer.

If you want to add a clear piece of hose put it in front of the pump.

And no those seals don't come with the impeller, but they are available.
