AQ131D Lost power and sputtering

First trip out this year started running rough at first acted like it was bad gas and or seamed to be only running on a few cyliders. After warm up it ran fine for two days until......

A few hours before ready to leave the lake the rough running started again. Running rough most of the way back to the boat ramp and driving at 7 knots then all of a sudden the power kicked back in and rand fine for at least a few min until is started losing power again.

I replaced the Capacitor a few years ago and was going to replace that again and see if that works. Anything else to try??

sounds like your advance on the distributor is sticking... im dealing with that right now...

Did you figure out how to get the advance to unstick? Changed the condenser last night checked wires and plugs. Have narrowed down to carb or restricted gas flow. Anybody else have some ideas.

I read in my operators manual that I can put a few drops in the distributor under where the rotor sits. I am asuming this is the lubricate the shaft and the weights on the shaft for timming. Would it hurt to put more than a few drops. What if I tried to squirt some WD40 just below the points on the shaft??
