aq140a water in oil

can water work its way in though the outdrive through the exugast mainfold then in to the engine, or do I have a craked head, block, or blown head gastet? its a 2.1 lt, 280 outdrive closed cooling system

It died on the lake, and would not restart, checking the oil found about 3 quarts of water mixed in, I pulled the plugs and cranked it over got all the water out, and it still will not restart. have great spark, and have even tryied starting fulid still nothing, it ran like a top before, when it died I had my lady with me, I guess women really are bad luck on boats!
