Any experts on this subject ?
I have rebuilt my AQ151B 1 yr ago and now am looking at replacement of a 3rd cyl head removal to resurface the head & replace the head gasket again. Very frustrating as I'm using the best machine shops in my area who have marine expertise.
The engine runs beautifully but the first symptoms of probs comes with hard starts both cold & hot.
The first H/Gasket prob was caused by too rough a surface finish on the alumn cyl head which over time cut into the head gasket causing the first leak.
The repair job was done correctly ( resurfacing to a mirror finish ) incl a block surface check incl torque specs & sequence etc.
No overheating symptoms were evident as everything is new incl the manifold & rebuilt pumps. Both Seawater & circulating pump.
I have no other ideas as to why this is happening ?
Lastly, WOT is easily reached ( 5600 rpm ) after a sluggish out of the hole climb-out.
Many thks to anyone who can offer any advise
