AQ170 not able to get over 3000 rpm + strange rattle

Hello,

I have a problem with my aq170. The engine is suddenly not able to get over 3000 rpm when the propellor is in work. When reaching 3000 rpm you can hear a strange random rattling noise. I checked the valves, timing and the rest of the distributor. In neutral there are no problems to reach 5000 rpm. Spark plugs and wires are in good condition. Does somebody have an idea what can be the cause of this problem.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Yer probably hearin' Detonation induced by a Lean condition,...

Bad gas, water in the gas, crud in the gas, crud in the carb, etc,....

Start with checkin' the Contents of the fuel filter,...

Thanx for you reply! This morning I replaced the fuel filter, so the filter should be clean now. I will test it this afternoon.

Ayuh,.... What about the CONTENTS,..?? That's a valuable diagnostic tool,...

The filter was a little bit dirty at the sides, but nothing special. Don't know when it was replaced by the previous owner. Because the low price of a new filter I replaced it. In the glass part below the filter there was also nothing to see.
