I want to replace the exhaust hoses on My Volvo Penta AQ200B.It looks to me like I will have to remove the exhaust risers to accomplish this task.Is this the case?I am a newbie to marine mechanicals, but a mechanic by trade. Also, can this job be done with the boat in the water? The top of the Y pipe is above the waterline in my old Kenner houseboat. Have no idea what kind of exhaust setup you actually have on your engine, is it center rise or end rise? The original OEM manifolds had the risers and manifold as one piece.......That would have been fun.
Either way, if you have risers, pull them to change the hoses. I gives you the perfect chance to examine the manifolds and risers.
Below is a picture of a "Center Rise" Mercruiser manifold, with some information I put on it. While it is a Merc manifold, the inspection remains the same. And if the passages are plugged up or nearly plugged up, then it probably time to replace them.

Thanks Don,looking at my engine,I think the manifold and riser are one and the same.GM smallblock,so I guess it shoudn't be too tough.I will check all the passages though. Thanks again.
