I have 80's model volvo penta 350 with a rebuilt block, approximately 100 hrs. on it. It has a self exciting alternator (1 wire), amps are unknown at this point. From the research I've done it's my understanding that you cannot use a typical isolator with these type alternators because they need a direct connection to the battery. I would like to charge the starting battery and 3 other batteries with the alternator (12v each). Does anyone have any idea if this is possible and if so is there some type of Isolator that will make this possible with the self exciting alternator and preferably with no voltage drop. If anyone knows of a product or has any ideas please let me know. I appreciate all your help!

I`d guess somewhere around 55-70 amp. You can use a isolator with a 1 wire just depends on what regulator was installed in it. Most older ones did not need a 12 source to excite, newer ones do.
So , simply run a wire from the outer most post on the starter solenoid to the output lug of the alt or to the "C" of the isolator. When starting 12v is supplied by this connection.
You will always have a slight voltage drop ,

Easiest way is with an Automatic Charging Relay (ACR) and more then one can be used. What are the other bats connected/used for?

Yeah. Split change relay would do it.
On an other note, and just for my own interest...is the AQ225 a 5.7 ? I thought it might be a 5.0.
