AQ260 stalls at low RPM and tough to re-start when hot

[1980 Volvo 5.7]

Starts really well when cold; runs great until I need to bring the RPM down (idle-1000, 180 degrees) for docking etc; tough to re-start after I shut down, or it stalls when hot (180 degrees).

Any ideas?

Tuneup maybe 15 hours ago; fuel filter last year...

It sounds like your ready for a carb rebuild.

Ayuh,... Fuel filters don't have an expiration date, but if it took on water, it needs changin',... Again....

More importantly, is what's IN the filter.... change it, 'n LOOK...

Bond-o is right, of course(im sure he hears that from the wife all the time)...empty the fuel filter into a glass jar and let is sit for a while. While it is settling, go get a new filter. If you find the gas to water free, I would proceed with a carb rebuild or replacement.

Let us know what the fuel looks like.

Checked the filters, found gummed up fuel pellets. New Racors on order. Won't be able to test for another 10 days or so... It still seems like there might be some sort of ignition issue because the the stalling at idle only happens when it's hot. One issue at a time.

Well, it looks like the coil was the issue. Ran perfectly all weekend. Maybe it was loosing contact inside when hot etc. That being said, the fuel filters definitely needed to be changed.
