I have a 1983 Bayline 2150 with an aq260a/280. When I bought this boat it came with an edelbrock 1409 which is obviously not a marine carb and now that I am looking more into it I find that it is not the proper marine distributor either. It has a delco electronic distributor. When the boat wants to start and run, it seems to run ok besides that im only getting about 3800 max rpm's. But most of the time when I go for a descent ride as soon as I stop the boat and turn it off it seems like the float is stuck and dripping gas into one of the barrels. I'm assuming this is because it is not a marine carb but not 100% sure. I do not know too much about boats or mechanics for that matter so my two questions are:
Is their anyway to stop this dripping of the gas into the barrel, because the boat starts and drives fine enough for me when it is not dripping?
If not, what is going to be my cheapest route of fixing this problem?
I am really strapped for cash and trying to atleast enjoy the season since we only have a few months here in RI to enjoy the boat. Any help please??
