AQAD40/290 Lift & Trim don't work

Hi,

I've got a 1983 Volvo Penta diesel - AQAD40/290. It has been stuck down as long as I've owned it (3 years).

There is oil in the hydraulics & the motor runs (endlessly) - so I'm guessing that the release thingy is stuck?

In reading others' posts, they mention a "manual release" - anyone know how to so that? Preferably with the boat still in the water.

Are you sure it's a 290? I didn't think they were out in 83. Never seen a manual release valve either, and I had a 290DP.

Ooops - I took the year from one of the manuals I had.

After digging in the paper-work, I found the delivery card - it was bought in 1986.

AQAD40 with 290 sterndrive - not dual-prop.

I was hoping that a "manual release" was something I could pull by hand & release it ... but maybe not?

well my 270 has a locking clip so the leg dont go up in reverse you have to pull the lever where your trim pin is if you have that.
