Are 15 hp Force by Mercury 2 strokes pretty good motors

I am thinking about buying a 1999 15 hp 2 stroke Force by Mercury, and wanted to know did anyone have trouble with them? It has about 20 to 40 hours on it and te guy wants $1000 for it. Thanks for your advice?

While there is nothing basically wrong with the engine, $1,000 is WAY too much to pay. For example: I am selling a 1998 25 horse Evinrude, electric start, with remote controls for 650-850. Really, unless he comes down radically on price, look elsewhere.

$405 average. This is the book on your motor. Now I've NEVER seen a motor sell for what the book suggested. Anywhere from 500-700 is a fair price.
