Are all Alpha 1 Gen II lower units the same?

I have a 1992 Sea Ray with the 4.3 V6 and Alpha 1 Gen II out drive. The lower unit has died on me, and I'm looking for a replacement for it. Since the gears are up in the upper unit, soes it matter what Gen II that I get? I've found one from a V8. Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated.

If both units are from alpha 1 gen II, then yes, they are the same and will work just fine.
