Im in the market for a boat and i think i have found one. The boat now has a late 70's early 80's evinrude 100 hp. I would like to upgrade to a newer engine but would a newer engine like a 1996 johnson 115 hp used the same holes on the transom ? How about a late 80's yamaha ?
Thanks for your help !

the newer engine are the same, but none of the older ones were. use some 3m 5200 and fill the old holes, then mount the new motor, done all the time.

I think if your motor is '79 or later you will be fine. If you do need to patch old holes use a plug with the 5200 say like a dowel of wood or fiberglass. Chief Chief
