Are dual-feed muffs over kill?

Was out looking for some muffs for my evenrude 8hp 4stroke. I wan't to test the motor before I take er out.
I see they have single and double feed muffs, are the double feeds just over kill or are there applications where they're required.
Am I ok with a single feed?
Thanks

If you can see thru the grates from the side then I think the single feed would work fine as long as both sides seal well.

Buy the standar dual ears muffs with just one water intake. Dual fed muffs are for larger engines which requires larger amounts of water intakes, not your particular case.

Thanks for the replies, I checked the intake grates like Maclin sugested and could see through clearly. So I ended up getting a single feed muff and
it worked like a charm. Motor started up after a few pulls and purred like a kitten (pretty happy about that), only problem was pull rope was a little slow
in returning after pulling. Is there some ajustment/lubrication I can do or am I going to end up having to replace the recoil??
Thanks.

If you can't remember when the last time you cleaned and re-greased the innards of the recoil;
The grease in there probably resembles glue more than grease.

There is always something that needs maintenance on a boat.
It looks like the recoil has moved to near the top of the list.

It it's an old engine, probabably spring has already lost its spring tension, check if could be greased back and return tension adjusted. Will need to disassemble spring and check. If can't be done, will need to replace spring coil for a new one and addjust as per factory setttings.
