armature plate ?? 71' evinrude 25hp

What would cuase and armature plate to become sloppy and loose..I know there is a guideplate in there and the screws are tight. Does the plate wear and need replaced. The crank sahft does not wobble or anything but man the arm/ plate is sloppy. Thanks

Thanks for the quick response...Also what grease is used to lubricate it,and can the oil seal/bearing be replaced while I have this apart or do i need to tear it down further..Thanks for all the info its really appreciated..

Well I was pointed to the joe reeves method for fixing the lose armature plate,I might try if I have no alternate, seems that that indentions would eventually wear away.Would replacing the retaining plate fix this or do I have to do the armature support ring also. Still wondering about seal replacement and grease to lube arm/plate(brand). Thanks fellas, sure have helped me tremendously
