Re: Arnie for Govener

I like Arnold a lot. I like his movies. I like his disipline and commitments. I'm sure he'd be a great guy to hang out with for the day.

However, I've not seen any indication that he's able to manage the 7th largest economy in the world. Our present tax and spend stupid idiot current govenor dang sure wasn't and I'm not about to gamble everything I own on a possible maybe. Darrel Isa is the logical choice out of the rest of the circus.

Re: Arnie for Govener

My first resoponse was you gotta be kiddin me, and then I realized thats exactly what they said about Ventura. I just watched him on Leno and I gotta say aside from the movielines he actually sounded alright. not that he said much but at least he didnt just dance around and say nothing. Should get kinda interesting out there on the left coast, lookin forward to the whole dog and pony show. I wont hang on it and follow all the particulars however it is quite a presidence there setting, Gotta belive there will be no shortage of coverage on this one.

Re: Arnie for Govener

I would think Arnie would have just as good a chance as anyone else who decides to run for public office.

I think that he being an imigrant to this country, he may have what it takes to handle some of the problems that California faces.

He knows what it like to be a poor imigrant, he came here with only enough money to get him thru the Mr. Olympia compition and decided to stay here in the U.S.

It wasn't until he became a citizen here and became Mr. America, that he was able to accel when after a bodybuilding tourney, someone decided to give him a chance by doing a few TV commercials, complete with voice overs, and the rest is history.

You have to admire his courage in the beginning of his acting career, what with his language barrier.

I don't know if I would vote for him at this time (if I was from California) because I don't know what his platform would be yet, but I'll keep an open mind about him and let time determine if he is a valid canidate, right know I think it's a good idea.

Besides, whats the worst that can happen, he loses?

Kenny

Re: Arnie for Govener

Darrel Issa is a low life criminal, How that slime bag got elected is beyond me. I thought they had some brains down in San Diego.

If the Republicans in this state nominated a solid, moderate candidate like Richard Riordan as a opposed to an extremist boob like Bill Simon, we wouldn't be going through this recall in the first place.

Bustamante seems lie a good candidate, but as Lt. Governor, he's kind of like a first mate on a sinking ship.

I'll take Arnold.
He is heavily involved in politics, The republicans have been molding and prepping him for this for a long time. He's ready.

He has a huge base of friends and cronies, not all of who are republican. He has name recognition which is good for getting things done.

He runs a few successful business (but let's not count Planet Hollywood, were he was only an investor)

So many people think he makes movies 24/7/ 365. Don't discredit him because of his day job.

Remember that Riordan was a restaurant owner before he got into politics. Issa was a car theif that sold Car Arlarms. Sonny Bono was a pop singer before he was mayor and a congressman. Reagan was an Actor. Truman owned a clothing store. Carter and many other politicians were farmers.

Jeese Ventura was an effective governor in a small state. He was a pro-wrestler.

John Glenn and Harrison Schmidt were Astronauts.

Bob Dornan was in a mental institution? (J/k)

Very few are born into politics like the Kennedys, Roosevelts and Bushes. Most people had real day jobs before entering politics.

Arnold seems like a very smart , motivated guy. He came to this country, broke and barely able to speak the language, through drive and determination started a fitness and movie empire.

The Republicans get their guy in office, The Dems get a Kennedy in office. Everybody but the hardcore extremist on either side wins.

He's big on Education
He's big on Fitness
He's big on getting the film industry back into the state (how many films are shot out of state because of high costs in California) and that will be good for business retention and attraction in general.

I'll vote for him

Then we can buy the surplus of bumper stickers from Minnesota that read: "Our governor can kick your governor's *** ")
