Looking for reccomendations on a prop - mine is getting dinged up and it is time for a replacement.

SPECS: 1988 Chapparal 198XL w/ 5.0L GM engine
Current Prop: 14.5 x 19 Michigan Wheel, aluminum, model 011008
Book WOT: 4200 - 4600
Current WOT: 3900

I figure I am overpropped right now, and should probably go to something less. Just not sure what to go to.

In addition to size suggestions, anyone have suggestions on manufacturer, or type? I am using aluminum - stainless steel is just a little too rich.

What about the new composite type with the replacable blades? Are they any good?

3 blade or 4 blade?

Just seeking to draw from the vast knowledge out there.

While you are waiting for advice, use the search function as well to get information on what prop goes where.
D

If your looking to tweek a bit extra performance you can start playing around with 4 blades and stainless etc but when it's all said and done - there's nothing wrong with a cupped 3 blade alloy, IMO.

You will definetely see an improvement with a 17". Depending on your usage, maybe even a 15".

Aldo

Re: ASPQ - Another Stupid Prop Question

I've been using Michigan Wheel props. Anyone have a strong feeling on other brands?
