I finally have internet capabilty at werk...At least , I will for the next 129days, after which, I retire. But anyhoo, I'm feeling very strange being online,on iboats, on the clock!!!
It just hits me funny, and I'm wondering how many others do this all day at werk! I should be out there in my mobile office, where I feel more in-tune with the job I should be doing. But for the past week, I've been in here, playing "catch-up" with 3 year's worth of paperwerk back-log,on the new scanner. I was beginning to wonder if I would have time to complete it all by the time I did retire, but --- I finnished scanning and filing it all yesterday. It took less than 3 werkin days!!!!

Oh to have had this machine back when I was a young sprout with this firm!
Well, I best go look for some trouble to get into before I get into trouble..See Y'all when I gets home :)
:D

that means you'll be retired by the time of the get together - yehaa!

another good reason to celebrate with a cold brew! and if you aren't in good enough shape to go to work the next day- you won't have to! you can sleep it off- lol :D ;)

Way to go 12footer you made it. I think way to many people spend company time on line doing nothing that has to do with work. I work for a large public school district. Last week I was doing a job in the main district office. 50 administrators and countless others work in this building. The running of data cables that I was doing took me all over the building. I was so disgusted by the time I left that place. Seemed every office I went into the people were on line doing everything from checking personal investments to playing on line video games. This went on all day. As a taxpayer in this district I find this very disturbing. :( As an employee here needless to say I cant speak out. I think being online has its advantages in the work place. But in my opinion most employees that can take advantage of it for their own personal use will. Not that doing your own thing every now and again is a crime. I just think once it starts you just take advantage more and more as time goes by.
JMHO

-----------------
Flathead

Flahthead,

I must agree with you, especially when they are public servants.

Private employers are a little different though, and I am sure their are alot of people who abuse their time by being online when they should be working, of which I could probably be put on that list, but for the most part, I'm only online when my workload is light.

Hi 12'er
I connect to iboats from work too, and consider that my break time - like browsing a magazine or newspaper. I don't see the harm in it, so long as it doesn't get in the way of normal work time. Taking a break or two during the day is proven to make you work better (well that's my story anyway....)

All the best for your retirement...I hear you can fish all year round in Florida? ;)

Re: At werk now, in the twilight zone.

Well, it's good to be home. The entire day was a blow-out. After finishing-up on the puter, I went out to the mobile office and sat. As the date gets closer, I'm finding less and less werk orders in my bin. Not that I mindm, but like Flahthead, I get a little disgusted at the waste of resources, and wonder out loud, how much of this goes on around the country. Sad commentary to be sure, but it seams to be what is expected, and at times, even prefered.
But I will spend the rest of my days with this firm doing little if not, nothing at all, while they refuse to allow me to train someone.
If they were going to phase-out the dept, I could maybe understand the logic. But this wont, (nor could it) happen. I don't get it. O well. Monday is another day..Dont be amazed if I don't get on my favorite website and advise a few people how to fix thier motors. After all, there aren't any around the salt mines in need of repair..Plum tragic, aint it?

Anyhoo, yes, Kiwi, the fishing is year-round here. The only problem with the present season (our dry season) is a phenomenon called "Red tide". Red Tide is an algea bloom,so named because it apears as a red blotch from the air.
It can drive folks with asthma,or bronchitus into real fits near the coast. It suffocates marine life, and stinks-up the beaches with dead fish.
Sometimes, it's really bad. Other times, it's not even noticeable. But the fishing declines only slightly because of it. Which upon fishing trips this time of year,"if you can get past te smell, you got it licked".

Let me add my congrat's 12footer. I'm looking at another year to year and a half. NO MORE than that. Don't get on line at work....to many peering eyes if ya' git my drift.

I'm sure you'll have plenty to do with all the "free" time you will have. Most of the guys I fish with are retired and they complain of not having enough hours in the day. Still ain't sure about that.

Anyways......ENJOY!!! :D :D :D
