atf fluid comming out of outdrive

I have a 4.3l v6 175hp 1990 merc that is leaking the atf fluid out of the outdive when i have it hooked to a hose to check engine. Also the resvior that holds the atf instead of being red and fluid it is pink and not quite chunky but very thick. whats causing this how do i fix it?

The fluid may be aerated.When there is a leak air and water can get into the system.The tiny air bubbles make it look pink.Find the leak. Charlie
